The Resident Judge of the 5th Judicial Circuit Court, Grand Cape Mount County, Ousman Fritz Feika, said he wants members of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) to follow prescribed protocol in arresting alleged drug culprits along with the drugs and other dangerous substances.

According to Judge Feika, the LDEA can only be successful if they arrest, successfully prosecute and get a guilty verdict against the accused. In that way, he said, everyone will feel some sort of relief that the society is on the course of returning to normalcy again.

He said Grand Cape Mount County is currently faced with the daunting challenge of fighting the proliferation of dangerous drugs and substances that have infiltrated the borders by means of unscrupulous individuals, whose sole intent is to destroy the youthful population.

Delivering his charge at the formal opening of the February term of court, Judge Feika disclosed that the fight against drugs and other dangerous substances must be a collective one—if the county is to thrive in education, health and economic and infrastructural development. “The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency as the premier agency charged with the responsibility to fight drugs and substance abuse is therefore encouraged to step up its fight and collaborate more with other law enforcement agencies, as well as the communities, in the fight against drugs and other dangerous substances,” Judge Ousman Feika said.

He continued that law enforcement officers are expected to conduct themselves with discipline, impartiality, and adherence to the law. “Let your actions reflect respect for the rule of law, and may you always act in ways that foster public trust in our justice system,” he added.

He used the occasion to encourage the newly inducted attorneys-at-law to practice law with humility, diligence, and an unwavering commitment to justice.

Those admitted into the Grand Cape Mount Bar are Magistrate U. Milton Fahnbulleh, Presidential Press Secretary Kulah Bona Nyel Fofana and Magistrate Rubbinson V. Dunnoh.
