The office of the Islamic Advisor to the President of Liberia, along with partners, has dedicated seven modern hand pumps in Grand Cape Mount County.

Speaking at the dedication ceremony, the Islamic Advisor to President Weah, Usmane T. Jalloh, said the project is from the advocacy of the Liberian government through a Turkish-based humanitarian organization, DiYANET VAKFET Foundation, which aims at reducing the risk to lack of safe-drinking water across the country.

He said each of the pumps worth US$15,000.

The Islamic Advisor disclosed that the project is also  intended to alleviate the problem of unsafe drinking water by providing safe and clean water, which will help to reduce diarrhea and water-borne diseases.

He further called on the citizenry to maintain and protect the facility well, as it will open more opportunities for them—if they treat it well and  use it for the intended purpose.

Usmane at the same time called on all Cape mountainians to vote President Weah into office for a second term if they want more of such developments in their county.

Also speaking, Executive Director of the Center For Humanitarian Activities in Africa, Geeplay Kelvin Watson, said the project is a DiYANET VAKFET Foundation fully sponsored program, through his organization, to the people of Liberia.

Geeplay said the project is meant to help provide good and safe-drinking water for all Liberians; as such, the organization from Turkey has decided to install five of such pumps in every county in Liberia.

Meanwhile, Geeplay emphasized the need for proper care as it is the gateway for many projects to come to the country. “If Liberians must get more from donors, they must properly take care of every project that has been given them,” he stated.
