The plenary of the House of Representatives has invited the Minister of Justice, Frank Musa Dean, to appear before full plenary, to show cause why he should not be held in contempt; Mercy M Kpaingbay writes.

Justice Minister Dean was written by the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives, Mildred Sayon, on last week Thursday for his appearance on Tuesday, February 28, 2023.

Minister Dean was invited to come and serve as legal counsel to the President of the Petroleum Importers Association of Liberia (PIAL) and all petroleum importers of Liberia for continued focus on actual compliance with the National Road Fund Act of 2017, and to include explanation for the deplorable state of roads in Liberia.

The decision of plenary to invite the Minister of Justice to appear before the body to show reason why he should not be held in contempt came as failure on the part of the Justice Minister to honor the communication sent to him and his not doing a written communication to plenary for the change of schedule.

The decision of the plenary of the House of Representatives came as a result of a motion made by Representative Clarence K Massaquoi, Lofa County’s district #3.
