Flashback: Justice Ministry breaking ground for complex
SHARE

The Ministry of Justice has clarified recent public concerns regarding claims that US$20 million (twenty million United States dollars) has been allocated in the national budget for the construction of the Justice Complex.

The ministry however informed the public that no such allocation has been approved or captured in the current national budget as claimed. Rather, the Government of Liberia (GOL) has demonstrated its commitment to the Justice Complex by identifying the project as a priority under the ARREST Agenda, where an indicative amount of US$20 million has been placed to signal government’s intent and long-term planning.

“This inclusion under the ARREST Agenda reflects the government’s strategic commitment to strengthening the justice sector and improving access to justice nationwide,” the Ministry of Justice said. “However, it should not be misconstrued as an approved budgetary appropriation.

“The Ministry of Justice remains committed to transparency and accountability, and will continue to keep the public informed as the Justice Complex project progress and funding,” the ministry maintained.
