The plenary of the House of Representatives on Thursday, March 24, 2022 passed into law an Act Creating Konawolala, Bong County, an Administrative District in the Republic of Liberia.

The House unanimously passed the act, declaring administrative district status to Konawolala, within Bong County, following a motion proffered by Margibi County’s district #4 Representative, Ben A. Fofana.

It can be recalled that Bong County’s district #6 Representative, Moima Briggs-Mensah, on December 2, 2021 submitted the Konawolala Administrative District Act to the House of Representatives through Speaker Bhofal Chambers.

According to Representative Briggs-Mensah, the Act, if passed into law, will address one of the major needs of the people who are residing in locations mentioned in the act, because for too long they have been yearning for this to come to fruition.

Konawolala Administrative District has over 250 towns, with approximately 35,000 inhabitants.

Plenary’s decision to pass the bill was triggered by a report from a Joint Committee on Internal Affairs and Judiciary.
