LACC Requests MOJ To Remove Self-Styled “Pro-Bono” Man From MOA
The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission has written the Ministry of Justice requesting the Attorney General to ensure the immediate removal of Ansu Konneh from all activities of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The Commission, in a letter to Cllr. Frank Musa Dean, said Konneh, in his current capacity as Acting Director of Program Management, has never been vetted by the Civil Service Agency or the Ministry of Agriculture internal vetting mechanism or even any donor project for the post he is occupying.
The LACC quotes its Chairman, Cllr. Edwin Kla Martin, as saying it is important to issue a writ of quo warranto for usurpation of a public office, which could lead to potential loss of millions of public resources and the individual concern could flee the country with no accountability to the Liberian people.
The LACC said while its investigations are on-going, it is also important to remove some immediate danger to the state and its people.
Ansu Konneh was individually and summarily hired by the Minister of Agriculture, Jeannie Cooper, and placed in charge of several important national and donor projects at the Ministry of Agriculture without going through proper recruitment exercise, which is required under all international best practices.
The Commission said it could not allow its investigation to be concluded before raising the issues with Justice Ministry officials as Ansu Konneh’s presence at the Ministry of Agriculture poses a clear and pressing danger to the running of a responsible government.
