Members of the House of Representatives have mandated the leadership to invite the Ministry of Finance Development Planning relevant to claims of alteration in the 2024 National Budget Law.

Plenary reached the decision Thursday, June 6, 2024 during the 7th day sitting based on a communication from Representative Clarence G. Gar, electoral district #5,Margibi County.

In his letter, the lawmaker claimed that an illegal alteration was made in the 2024 National Budget Law,and asked his colleagues to recall it.

Representative Gar made specific example to a decision that the Legislative Budget Office (LBO) be replaced by the Public Account Committee.

“It can be recalled that at the end of the 2024 National Budget deliberations, a motion was made by Representative James Kolleh of District #2, Bong County, in which he stated where all in the 2024 National Budget Law are written LBO should be automatically replaced with PAC, which was unanimously voted and passed into law,” the Margibi lawmaker stated.

Following the floor’s debate, plenary agreed upon a motion from Representative Ivar Jones that the communication be forwarded to the House’s leadership to handle the matter, and that Ministry of Finance appearswith a copy of the budget within one week.
