Liberia Fire Chief and Chicago Fire Chief Hold Talks To Strengthen LNFS
The head of the Liberia National Fire Service, Col. Alex K. Dickson, has held talks with Chicago Fire Department Chief, Richard C. Ford II, with the aim of helping the Liberia National Fire Service (LNFS) with equipment, logistics and the rebranding of the fire service medical department in Liberia. In the meeting, Col. Dickson appealed to the Chicago Fire Chief for local and international training for LNFS Officers.
The Liberia fire chief departed Liberia on August 24, 2020 upon an official invitation from Liberians in Chicago to attend a meeting with the fire department chief in Chicago, United States of America. The high powered delegation met him upon arrival.
The Chicago Fire Department is the biggest in Illinois and second largest fire in the United States of America. It has among the best firefighters and paramedics. It was the first time the Chicago Fire Department’s chief, Richard C. Ford, II, a highly learned American fireman, and his 1st Deputy Fire Commissioner, Chicago Fire Department, Annette Nance Holt, met with the Liberian fire chief.
Both Chief Richard C. Ford II and Annette Nance Holt have promised Col. Alex K. Dickson of coming to Liberia December if the government would extend an invitation for their visit to carry out a physical assessment of the Liberian National Fire Service (LNFS). It can be recalled that the Chicago Fire Department, through the Liberian community, donated several fire-fighting equipment to the Liberia National Fire Service (LNFS), including ambulance, first aid bags, and firefighting suits, last year.
