–Pres. Boakai To Address Business & Trade Conference

The Government of Liberia (GOL) has announced the official opening of the Liberian Office of Trade and Investment–Philadelphia, a dynamic new gateway for bilateral commerce and business collaboration between the Republic of Liberia and the United States. The launch aligns with President Joseph Nyumah Boakai’s working visit to the United States on the invitation of President Donald Trump. The business conference underscores the Liberian leader’s agenda for economic growth and job creation.

According to Trade and Investment Representative, Ambassador Gurly Gibson-Schwarz, the Trade Office will serve as a one-stop resource for American and Liberian enterprises seeking market entry support, joint venture partners, regulatory guidance, and strategic investment opportunities across key growth sectors—agribusiness, energy, digital services, manufacturing, and sustainable tourism. By positioning the office in Philadelphia—historically a crucible of American commerce and now a rising global logistics hub—Liberia signals its determination to deepen trade ties with U.S. businesses, large and small, coast-to-coast.

The two-day business conference in Philadelphia will bring together policymakers, Fortune 500 executives, diaspora entrepreneurs, investors, and development finance leaders to accelerate mutually beneficial trade and investment.

His Excellency, President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, will deliver the keynote address, outlining Liberia’s macroeconomic vision and a pipeline of bankable projects designed to expand value-added exports and create quality jobs for Liberian youth.

Key sessions will highlight “Made in Liberia” value chains, financing and risk mitigation, as well as instruments from U.S. EXIM, DFC, and multilateral partners. Also included will be Mobilizing Liberians Abroad for Home-Grown Innovation, Infrastructure, and Energy, featuring public-private models for roads, ports, renewable power, agribusiness, and broadband.

The signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Liberia and Laborers’ Local 332, along with a visit to a local shipyard, will conclude the conference.
