The West African Examination Council, during the Ministry of Information’s regular press briefing on September 1, 2022, published its report on candidates in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Dale Gbotoe, Head of WAEC-Liberia, said Liberian students performed well as compared to their counterparts within the sub-region.

The WAEC boss asserted that Liberian students made high marks in mathematics, English and literature.

The report, which was made in a PowerPoint presentation, highlighted results of primary, junior and secondary schools.

According to him, those who failed the exams are students who provided answers to questions from the social media and not from what they were taught.

At the same time, the WAEC boss clarified that he did not request for money from any high school principal to release the results of the 2021/2022 examination.

Dale Gbotoe said his office does not request money from people in order to release results, adding that those who are taking money in the name of WAEC are doing it on their own.

He said his clarification comes in the wake of report on a local radio that his office was charging fees to release senior schools’ WASSCE results.
