The Liberia Traffic Management (LTM) has deployed over 200 traffic officers to enforce road safety measures and ensure the smooth flow of traffic in the country.
Speaking during the Ministry of Information regular press briefing on Thursday, January 23, 2025, Ignatius S. Blaye said they are partnering with the Liberia National Police (LNP) to enhance traffic regulation and road safety in Monrovia and its surrounding areas.
Blaye highlighted the organization’s effort to build local capacity by training police officers and Liberians in effective traffic management and reduce road-related incidents.
He assured his institution’s commitment to maintaining order on the roads, assuring the public that the partnership with the LNP will prioritize the safety and convenience of all road users.
According to him, the Ministry of Transport has given them the green light to operate in the country; as such, they are doing their best to ensure public trust. “We have plans to train drivers and motorcyclists under our program to ensure professional and safe driving practices across the country. But if a driver causes an accident and attempts to run, rest assured that we will track them down,” Blaye reassured.
Blaye further stated that the institution’s intention is to install CCTV cameras on all of the streetlights in Monrovia and surrounding areas to monitor and track traffic violations. He said the initiative marks a significant step towards reducing traffic-related issues and promoting a safer environment in Liberia.
