To enlighten Liberians nationwide, especially grassroots Liberians, about the Chinese government’s development agenda and citizens’ empowerment in Liberia, the Liberia-China Friendship Organization (LICFO) over the weekend held an engagement forum with the residents of Chicken Soup Factory Community.
The China development projects awareness in Liberia program held at the God’s Fountain of Joy Ministries International, Chicken Soup Factory Gulf Community, brought residents of the community together who followed the narratives done by the Liberia-China Friendship Organization’s general secretary.
The organization, headed by Liberians, is to publicize the fulfilled Chinese Government massive development platforms in Liberia, advocate for Liberians to benefit from sundry of opportunities, and so on, from the people of China and from the Chinese government. The forum was intended for Liberians to be aware about China’s development imprint in Liberia so that they can debunk anyone that will ill-discuss the Chinese presence in Liberia.
Earlier, the President of LICFO, Siafa D. Sheriff, mesmerized the residents, saying China is on record of playing major developmental role in Liberia’s development agenda and offering many scholarships to Liberian students over the years.
“What you do not know is older than you; that is why we are engaging community’s residents about China’s development in Liberia over the years,” S. Wonde, Secretary General of LICFO, said during the program.
He added that they presented a proposal to the Chinese Embassy and the Chinese accepted it and approved LICFO’s officials going from community to community–to create awareness about what the Chinese people and Chinese Government have done in Liberia.
“When you sit somewhere and people are saying the Chinese just plenty in Liberia and doing nothing – tell them China is doing something for Liberia, that is what the whole forum is about,” Secretary General Wonde said during his PowerPoint presentation in Chicken Soup Factory Gulf Community.
The program held in the Chicken Soup Factory community also brought together well-wishers, journalists, as well as representatives of the organization.
Secretary General Wonde revealed that the next time the team appears in the community it will offer medical treatment for over 100 patients, observing that patients with critical cases will be given prescription to go to JFK for advanced treatment. He continued that there will be scholarship benefits for those who have first degree to do master’s in China.
During the PowerPoint presentation, secretary Wonde told Chicken Soup Factory Gulf Community’s residents that the Chinese government constructed the Ministerial Complex, Monrovia Vocational Training Centre, Fendell Campus, annexes of the Capitol Building; China also renovated the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex, and so on.
He stated that China is progressive in development because the Chinese Government is proactive. The country has zero tolerance on corruption, and the implementation of laws and order are strict, and it does not favor anyone.
In an appreciative tone, Archonship Roseline Y. Bandakpellah of God’s Fountain Of Joy Ministries International, thanked the officials of LICFO for enlightening the community’s residents on China’s development projects in Liberia. She praised the resilience of the community’s residents for attending the meeting, noting that all the benefits mentioned for the community will be done gradually.
However, several residents said that was their first time hearing and seeing the Chinese government’s numerous development achievement in Liberia and opportunities for Liberians.
