The Liberia Immigration Service (LIS), whose mandate is to protect the boundaries and borders of Liberia, on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at 11:48 p.m. confiscated two Kia Motor trucks of natural rubber and two TVS bikes bearing Guinean license plates.

According to the LIS Spokesperson, Colonel Abraham Ahmed Dolley, the arrest was made at Towin by-pass crossing point when border crossing time had closed after 6:00 p.m.

Towin crossing point is situated in Nimba County. Already there are 176 border points, and 45 are legal entry points into the country.

Col. Dolley said the confiscation was predicated upon intelligence in the area that some unknown individuals, believed to be Guineans and Liberians, were crossing unprocessed natural rubber in canoes from neighboring Guinea to Liberia at about 11:48 p.m. on July 31, 2022, although the border had closed at 6:00 p.m.

He explained that when the LIS officers engaged them they ran into the bushes, and some ran back to Guinea.

The LIS spokesperson also noted that the items confiscated have been turned over to customs for due process according to law.
