Flashback: Liberian nurses celebrating International Nurses Day
SHARE

The Liberian Nurses Association (LNA) has celebrated International Nurses Day. The celebration was held in Paynesville at the Thomas P. Fallah University, 72nd community. The event was attended by nurses from various health facilities in Liberia, and held under the theme, “Our Nurses, Our Future”.

Every year from May 8—12 is celebrated by the LNA as Nurses Day. May 10, 2023 was celebrated as scientific session and part of the on-going celebration of Nurses Day in Liberia.

The suggestion of how the construction of the proposed home of the association can be made was brought forth by the LNA President, Benjamin O. Suamey, to members of the group. Some of the LNA members suggested deduction of the LNA members’ salaries monthly, while some members of the group opposed the view.

The President of the LNA also used the occasion to talk about the gains made by his team since their asendency to the leadership of the institution.

He said the new Health Act recently passed by the House of Representatives is in the interest of nurses in Liberia. The act is expected to be deliberated by the Liberian Senate for concurrence.

According to him, the Health Act, if passed into law, will cater to the welfare of nurses and boost the morale of the profession.
