The Liberia National Police (LNP) has disclosed that it has formally engaged the Ghana Police Service regarding an incident of mob violence that resulted in the death of 26-year-old Liberian national, Austin Tengeeh, in the Sakumono District of Accra, Republic of Ghana.

Preliminary information provided by Ghanaian authorities indicates that the incident occurred at an apartment complex in Lashibi, near Sakumono, Accra.

According to official briefings, Tengeeh was present at the premises when a dispute arose under circumstances that remain under investigation.

Information conveyed to the LNP further indicates that, during the disturbance, an alarm was raised that attracted members of the public and culminated in a violent assault on Tengeeh.

A responding police patrol reportedly intervened and transported Tengeeh to Sakumono Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His remains have been deposited at the Lashibi Funeral Home pending autopsy and further forensic procedures.

The Ghana Police Service has confirmed that three individuals were arrested and appeared in court on March 2, 2026, in connection with the allegations.

The Liberia National Police has also formally engaged the Embassy of Ghana in Monrovia and remains in active diplomatic communication to receive regular updates on the investigative and judicial processes. The LNP has been assured by the Ghana Police Service that due process is being observed and that investigations are on-going.

The Liberia National Police expressed deep sympathy to the family of Austin Tengeeh and to the Liberian community affected by this tragic loss.

Meanwhile, the Liberia National Police (LNP) has urged the public to remain calm, law-abiding, and to refrain from speculation or inflammatory commentary, noting that further updates will be communicated through official channels as verified information becomes available.
