The Liberia National Police (LNP) has recalled two officers of the Police Support Unit (PSU) assigned at the Capitol Building who were directly involved in damaging and removing the vehicle of Montserrado County’s district #10 Representative, Yekeh Kolubah, which was parked at the reserved space for the Speaker.

The two officers, Sergeant Sam C. F. Karbor and Chief Inspector of Police Frank P. Banda, were recalled on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 immediately after Representative Kolubah, along with other members of the “minority bloc” filed an official complaint against them at the LNP headquarters.

According to a LNP press release, the officers are currently undergoing investigation at the LNP Professional Standards Division, and that the LNP remains committed to maintaining law and order in the country.

On Tuesday, ahead of the arrival of the “majority bloc” Speaker, Richard Koon, at the Capitol Building, Representative Kolubah parked his vehicle exactly at where Koon should have parked, and stated that they all (lawmakers) were there to do the Liberian people’s work and no one person owned any particular space for his/her vehicle.

However, upon Koon’s arrival and subsequent notice of Representative Kolubah’s vehicle, he parked in another space not far from Yekeh’s vehicle and ordered the police officers assigned there to remove the vehicle.

Officers Karbor and Banda, along with Koon’s assigned securities, carried out the mandate—damaged the driver’s door to enter the vehicle, neutralized it and rolled it out.

At first, the security officers resisted newsmen from capturing the scene. An EPS officer assigned with Koon attacked Bana FM’s reporter, Winston Blyden, and slapped his gadget (phone) from his hand. But, as the tension escalated, they reconsidered and left the reporters to carry out their function.

Meanwhile, Representative Kolubah is claiming that, in addition to the damages on his vehicle, money was also taken away by those who carried out the act, and has vowed to take legal action against them.
