The 2011 Nobel Peace Laureate, Leymah Gbowee, has emphasized that she does not believe any nation is prepared to use its resources in 2023 to cater to Liberian refugees, internally displaced, or to send their soldiers to respond to chaos in Liberia. According to her, Liberians cannot keep choosing violence over peace, hate over love, and destruction over development and expect Liberia to measure up to her neighbors in the sub-region.

Gbowee was apparently expressing her disapproval in the recent violence that occurred in Montserrado County’s district #10, where supporters of Representative Yekeh Kolubah and those of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) have been battling for the past few days.

She noted that citizens, especially “leaders”, have failed to learn from many nations’ pasts. “In Liberia, we continue to make the same mistake: choosing violence over peace, idiocy over common sense, hate over love, and insults over respectable dialogue,” she bemoaned.

Gbowee stated that insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different result. She said, b“We cannot keep choosing violence over peace, hate over love, and destruction over development and expect Liberia to measure up to her neighbors in the sub-region.

“I don’t believe any nation is prepared to use its resources in 2023 to cater to Liberian refugees, internally displaced, or to send their soldiers to respond to chaos.

“Let History teach us that tyranny never wins!”
