The Liberia National Police (LNP) has given a one-week period to arrest and prosecute the alleged masterminds of the death of Joshua Solomon, who is said to be a member of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC).

“I want to say to you, members of the press, like we’ve done in other cases, we will ensure that justice is served. Between now and going forward to next week, with the corporation from the public we are hopeful of reaching a logical conclusion in ensuring that those responsible for the death of Joshua are arrested to account for their action,” the Spokesman of the LNP, H. Moses Carter told newsmen at a press conference over the weekend at the LNP headquarters.

Spokesperson Carter disclosed that the LNP has already launched an investigation into the death of Solomon—the fellow who was reportedly beaten severely by an angry crowd as a result of electoral violence in the 72nd community.

Carter revealed that before his death, Solomon served as national pageant trainer at the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism.

“We would like to say to Liberians that we are not going to sweep anything under the carpet as it relates to the unscrupulous act that led to the death of Joshua Solomon,” Carter noted.

He maintained that the death of the victim will be duly investigated in time, and justice will be served in ensuring that the alleged masterminds are brought to book.

Carter, quoting reports provided by doctors, said the 34-year-old man died as a result of internal bleeding.

The LNP Spokesperson also informed the media that Joshua Solomon was a victim of aggravated assault from a riot that took place on August 11, 2023 between supporters of the ruling CDC and the Unity Party (UP) in Sinkor, Monrovia.

According to Moses Carter, the police has already taken hold of the video footage, which captured the incident scenes from the internet and will duly investigate them in ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

At the same time, Moses Carter assured the public, family members and friends of the deceased that the police will ensure that the culprits are punished through the court of competent jurisdiction.

“So we ask members of the public to assist us with information on the perpetrators of the alleged aggravated assault that has caused the death of Joshua Solomon,” Police Spokesperson Carter averred.
