A leading stalwart of the governing Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), has predicted that there will be no run-off in the up-coming presidential election in the country

Samuel Tweah, Minister of Finance and Development Planning, said the incumbent will defeat whosoever comes forward to challenge him in the presidential race in the first round of the process.

The Finance Minister said President George Manneh Weah’s victory will come as a result of his government’s good performance and commitment to the people during his first-term of office.

Minister Tweah indicated that despite the global economic meltdown and the impact of COVID-19, the Weah administration has never lost sight of its development goals. He argued that several paved roads have been constructed under the current regime to enhance free movement and promote internal trade.

The Minister emphasized that most of the roads were built in Nimba, River Gee and Lofa counties using revenues generated from taxes and levies collected in the country.

Minister Tweah pointed out further that the leadership of President Weah has also invested heavily in electricity, healthcare and education to enhance the fight against poverty, while at the same time providing free tertiary  education for all students, irrespective of their background.

He was speaking during a program organized by the National Association of Petty Traders of Liberia, held in Monrovia at the weekend.

The minister expressed government’s readiness to assist petty traders throughout the country to improve their respective business interest.

Minister Tweah disclosed that the association stands to benefit thousands of dollars from the US$40 million IMF Grant for Liberia provided they are serious in their respective trade.

He also said some of the money will go towards agriculture and, therefore, urged Liberians to take advantage of the opportunity to increase food production in the country.
