The construction work of the over US$250,000 modern rice mailing and production factory in Gbatala, Bong County, is now ninety-eight percent completed under the direction of the Liberian-American-based international charity group, Friends of Liberia-Food and Water.

The Friends of Liberia Food and Water, established in 2016, is a non-governmental and non-profitable charity group rendering free humanitarian services through the provision of food and clean drinking water to tens of thousands of less fortunate and destitute Liberians who have not yet received these basic accesses in their villages and towns throughout this West African country.

Speaking to newsmen over the weekend in Gbatala, Bong County, the Liberian Consultant, Dr. Mulbah Quaqua, said the project will begin mailing testing for rice production within the next two weeks. Dr. Quaqua said, with the dedication of the modern rice mailing factory in Central Liberia, Liberia within the next five years will surely move away from subsistence farming to full commercial farming, because the number of farmers will greatly increase, an open market outlet for rice production will be established and that farmer’s financial strength and purchasing power will increase, thus lifting thousands of farmers out of poverty. He said revenues of government will also increase.

Also speaking via mobile phone from the United States of America, the American Philanthropist, George, said he was excited to know that a dream to provide food and clean water to thousands of Liberians through a rice factory will soon be a reality. George, affectionately known by the many benefiting Liberians as “Mr. Goodwater”, said seeing the first rice production in Liberia will make him more excited. According to him, after Friends of Liberia Food and Water buys the rice, farmers can use the money to build schools and ensure better healthcare delivery in their towns and villages.

When asked by newsmen who are the brains behind his dream, the American goodwill ambassador extended thanks to another American, Jungle James, the owner of International Food Market, for his financial assistance. George named his son, Chris, as the brain behind the building of a modern website for the organization and for also serving as the web master. Goodwater said the success of Friends of Liberia Food and Water would not have succeeded without the commitment of Mryna, whom he said continues to serve as the Book Keeper of all the organization’s financial records and transactions.

The CFO of Friends of Liberia Food and Water and Methodist Clergyman, Reverend Oliver Adams, after the inspection of the project could only lavish praises on George and his family, Chris and Mryna, as well as Jingle James for their moral and financial assistance at all levels leading to the completion of the rice factory in Liberia.
