Unanimously, the House of Representatives has voted to endorse a request from the National Elections Commission (NEC) on a “meeting” to provide information on the notices to conduct three by-elections for Representatives in Bong, Bomi and Grand Gedeh counties.

The House has agreed that the meeting be held on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 in an Executive Session. The decision was reached on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 during regular session. The Tuesday Session was the 14th day sitting of the 4th session of the 54th Legislature of Honorable House of Representatives.

The motion to accept the NEC’s request was made by Bong County’s district #6 Representative, Moima Briiggs-Mensah, and amended by Montserrado County’s district #16 Representative, Dixon Seebo.

According to a communication from Cllr. Davidetta Browne-Lansannah, Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners, the request for a meeting follows two communications from the House of Representatives on notices for three vacancies over the election of  Representative Prince M. Moye, Bong County, Representative Edwin M. Snowe, Bomi County, and Representative Zoe Pennue, Grand Gedeh County.

Previously, NEC wrote the House of Representatives that the budget for Bong County’s district #2 is in the tone of about US$455,000, but for the other two vacancies NEC requested for a meeting since the three vacancies grew out of the same December 8, 2020, special senatorial elections.
