“Old Wine In New Bottle Headed For Imminent Disaster”
–SUP Describes Boakai-Koung Regime In 100-Day Critique
The vanguard Student Unification Party (SUP) has released a critical analysis on the Boakai-Koung administration’s 100-day deliverables, describing the regime as an old wine in new bottle headed for imminent disaster.
In a release issued Tuesday, May 28, 2024, SUP stated that the Liberian economy is going through the abuse of mismanagement amidst the already prevailing economic hardship, high level of youthful unemployment, and the skyrocketing of prices on local commodities and transportation.
According to SUP, the Boakai-Koung administration promised to restore the economic dignity and probity of the Liberian people in 100 days, but this promise has proved more political if not chronically pretentious. “Patronage, cronyism, brownnose sycophancy, and nepotism are the new licenses of employment thereby denying several qualified young Liberians the right and opportunity to serve their country and contribute to nation building and as well leaving young people with motorcycle and Lonestar and Orange minutes long-walk hustles as means of survival. Lack of adequate means of transportation continue to increase the price of transportation, hence shifting economic hardship on the Liberian masses.”
The release noted that, since the Boakai leadership poverty has been on the rise, hardship increasing and hunger and starvation reaching new heights. “Amidst all these challenges, Oldman Boakai is flagrantly flying private jets across the region and bringing no economic benefit to the Liberian people,” SUP observed.
“This is a clear demonstration that the Boakai-Koung administration is an old wine in a new bottle heading for imminent disaster. The Unity Party that campaigned on people-centered promises as a rescue mission by promising to prioritize Liberians in the governance process to the extent that all government entities will be furnished with locally made desks and furniture is incongruently conflicting herself by acting otherwise in statecraft. After 100 days in office, Boakai’s Executive Mansion office, including the National Legislature that he issued check for office refurbishment, are furnished with imported office furniture from J-Mart, a foreign business enterprise, not local Liberian-made furniture or Liberian-owned business as promised,” the release continued.
SUP maintained that the Baokai-Koung administration has massively failed to provide young people with opportunities and deliver on the economy for the 100 days period.
As it regards the administration’s 100-day deliverables in education, SUP said, “Oldman Boakai promised to build and enhance the capacity of 10,000 youths in ICT, and assuredly secure for Liberian students a means to benefit from foreign and local scholarship opportunities. However, the Boakai government is yet to deliver on these promises despite over 100 days of his presidency. Such a broad-day deception shows the level of mischievousness that has engulfed the Boakai-Koung leadership.
“The much-heralded scholarship promises have become a mere grotesque, aberrant, and flamboyant showmanship of empty braggadocio. With more than 100 days in power, Mr. Boakai has brought no relief to the education sector,as all these promises have fallen victim to deceits, lies, and unorthodox duplicity. As education is a cardinal pillar in nation building, SUP is calling on Oldman Boakai to stop playing games with the Liberian people. We believe that the Boakai 100 days promises for education was just a boisterous verbal stunt wrapped in political rhetoric.”
The University of Liberia campus-based political movement further criticized the Boakai administration as it regards good governance and corruption, security, health, sanitation and water, noting that the outcome of President Boakai’s short-term agenda has created more problems than intended to address basic conditions of the people.
SUP emphasized that, after more than 100 days in office, the Boakai-Koung administration has only dabbled in wanton lies, deceit and unimaginable contradictions. “Since taking over as President of our endeared national matrimony, Boakai has proved to be a clueless oldmanwhose so-called 42-year experience in government has proved nothing in the short-term experiment but massive poverty, hardship and growing corruption,” the party said.
SUP assured the Liberian masses of a “new moment of struggle against the Boakai’s ineptitude and greed”.
