PACU Leadership Inducted
On September 16, 2022 the recently elected officials of the Port Authority Credit Union (PACU) were inducted into office. Those inducted will steer the affairs of the institution for the period of four years.
PACU membership comprises of employees, contractors and retirees of the National Port Authority (NPA).
Speaking during the induction ceremony, PACU Chairperson and Chair of the Board of Directors, Yogie Mulbah-Sirleaf, noted that her administration will work in the interest of the membership in addressing the challenges confronting their forward match.
According to her, PACU will work in line with its core values: integrity, teamwork, excellence, service, commitment, honesty, respect, among others.
Mulbah-Sirleaf stated that the organization is a voluntary financial cooperative established to provide service to people willing to accept the responsibility and benefit of membership, regardless of gender, social, racial, political or religious affiliation.
She mentioned that PACU is a not-for-profit and not-for-charity organization, but for service.
Sirleaf encouraged her fellow PACU officials and members to open savings accounts and invest more, in the interest of development for the group. She said PACU had in its savings US$672,000 prior to its saving of US$179,000. She said her anticipation is to have at least over US$1 million in PACU’s account, noting that, with more deposit in its savings account, PACU will achieve its objectives.
She said the new administration of PACU has introduced a “school fees loan, health insurance and own-your-own land” as benefits to its membership.
The PACU boss informed the jubilant crowd at the induction ceremony that come September 30, 2022 old committees members will be relieved and new members will be appointed by the leadership.
For his part, Augustus J. Flomo, Deputy Minister for Debt Management, Ministry of Finance Development Planning (MFDP), who served as the keynote speaker at the program, encouraged PACU members to invest more in the organization’s savings account, because when this is done Liberia’s economy will improve.
He said all around the world there are financial constraints confronting the livelihood of the people, but with more savings the constraints can be addressed.
Deputy Minister Flomo spoke on lots of issues affecting the world today, and recommended a united approach in handling them.
The induction ceremony was held at NPA’s Canteen, and conducted by Regina Sokan Teah, Registrar General, Cooperative Development Agency (CDA). There were representatives from various cooperatives in Liberia.
Those inducted are Yogie Mulbah-Sirleaf, re-elected Chairperson and head of the Board of Directors; George W. Cheyee, Sr., Co- Chairperson on the Board of Directors; Kevin B. McCauley, General Secretary on the Board of Directors; George Sulone Sumo, Treasurer on the Board of Directors; Loretta W. Freeman, Board Member; Cyrus N. Wright, Board Member; and Napoleon Zoegar, Board Member.
Those inducted as Supervisory members are Wennie L. Singbeh, Chairperson; Charlyne Wiles Gborie, Member; and Tanneh Tarpeh, Member.
