Patmelia Academy School System (PASS), whose tuition is almost free to the public, is helping hundreds of young people  in the Paynesville belt and beyond in secondary education.

On January 23, 2022  at the Paynesville Town Hall 248 senior students walked out of the walls of PASS.

This year’s graduation ceremony marked the 6th commencement convocation of PASS since its establishment.

Patmelia Academy School System (PASS) currently holds the champion title for Montserrado County in LMDI’s quizzing competition.

PASS championship came following an intensive academic battle among several other top schools in Monrovia and Montserrado County.

For the year 2020—2021, only three senior students of PASS failed the national exam, with 98% of the senior students coming out victorious from the national exam. Among the 98% of senior students who made a pass, one of them is among the duxes in Liberia in the exams.

PASS is one of the biggest secondary schools in the city of Paynesville, with over 1,000 students, and a conducive learning environment. The school is owned by politician Patrick Komoyan.

Speaking at the well attended graduation, Daniel Green, dux of the graduating class of 2020—2021, admonished stakeholders to embark on progressive education. Green said progressive education is important to the forward march of the country’s  education sector.

He spoke on a wide range of issues confronting the education system of Liberia, and recommended ways forward, but ended up calling on his colleagues to remain focused as they continue their sojourn in academia.

For his part, the keynote speaker at the sixth commencement convocation ceremony,  Mulbah Yorgbor, Jr., spoke on the theme, “Education is a Foundation for Responsible Citizenship”.

Yorgbor said education is a key component of any developing society, with Liberia no exception. He said he wants Liberian youth to focus their attention on education, which he noted serves as a driving force for tomorrow’s leaders.

According to him, politics should be taken seriously, because it controls everything that the society needs. Accordingly, he mentioned that if Liberia is to develop politicians are the architects to the forward march of Liberia.

In a related development, the Proprietor of Patmelia Academy School System (PASS) honored several instructors of the school for the role they played during the period under review.

Komoyan presented certificates of honor to the honorees and two bags of 25kg rice each.
