Following the suspension of Deputy Minister Bryant McGill of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has appointed F. Alphonso Y. Belleh as Acting Deputy Minister for Youth Development with immediate effect.

In his appointment, the President highlighted the importance of uninterrupted leadership within the Ministry of Youth and Sports to ensure the effective implementation of programs that empower and inspire the young people.

The Liberian Leader called on all stakeholders to extend their full support to Acting Deputy Minister Belleh as he assumes his new responsibilities in service to the nation.

It can be recalled that President Boakai recently suspended Deputy Minister McGill following allegations of involvement in the rape of a minor.

According to an Executive Mansion release, his suspension was in line with the government’s zero-tolerance policy toward all forms of sexual and gender-based violence and to ensure a fair and transparent investigation.

The release disclosed that Deputy Minister McGill will remain suspended until the conclusion of the investigation.
