Senator Prince Y. Johnson is recommending to the in-coming Unity Party administration that they establish a commission of inquiry, aimed at investigating mysterious death cases during the Weah-Taylor administration.

The Nimba County Senator was very bitter at President George Manneh before and during, and has been since the conduct of the October 10, 2023 presidential and legislative elections and, subsequently, the November 14, 2023 presidential run-off election across the country.

The political bitterness between the out-going Liberian leader and Senator Johnson ensued at the time the lawmaker demanded US$7.5 million from the Coalition for Democratic Change owed his county, observing that the money was given as social development funds by concession companies operating in his county.

As a result of the controversies surrounding the funds, Senator Johnson ended his political marriage with President Weah and his CDC, and later pledged his support to the election of Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Standard Bearer of the Unity Party ahead of the 2023 elections.

The lawmaker lobbied for his political son, Senator Jeremiah Koung, to run alongside Ambassador Boakai and demonstrated his political influence by delivering Nimba County, one of the key factors that led to Boakai’s defeat of incumbent Weah in the November 14, 2023 presidential run-off election.

Despite the defeat of the out-going President, Senator Johnson remains resolute in demanding justice for those he believed were mysteriously murdered under the CDC administration, underscoring the need for President Weah to account for how the country’s resources have been used under his leadership.

Delivering his sermon on Sunday at the Christ of Faith Christian Ministry in Monrovia, Senator Prince Johnson disclosed that he is proposing the setting up of a special body known as the commission on inquiry by the Boakai-Koung administration upon taking over in early 2024.

“Mr. Weah, there will be an institution or the Commission of Inquiry. I recommend the establishment of the Commission of Inquiry to investigate the mysterious deaths of our loving auditors,” he said.

According to him, the commission, when established, will not only look into the deaths of those Liberians but will also investigate the missing million during the Weah-Taylor government.

He is demanding a full-scale investigation into the deaths of the late Charloe Musu–niece of former Chief Justice Gloria Musu Scott, the officer of the Executive Protection Service (EPS) who reportedly shot himself in the head three times, the three auditors, among others.
