A Liberian residing in the Ohio State of the United States of America, Mr. Samuel Francis, is calling on the state authorities that are questioning those suspected to have been involved in the alleged attack on the home of the former Chief Justice, to be impartial in their probes.

Mr. Francis is the brother, son and cousin of three of the accused who are presently in police custody at the Police Headquarters on Capitol Hill.

Francis disclosed to this news outlet via telephone that police investigators are questioning his father, his junior brother, an aunt’s son and another person.

He stated that the four men, excluding his father, had done some electrical works  at the home of the former Chief Justice Gloria Musu Scott on that Wednesday, February 22nd, 2023, before the gruesome attack had occurred later that night, leading to the tragic death of Ms. Charloe Musu, a prospective graduate of the Starz University College. Also, the attacker stabbed one Alice Johnson, wounded one Gertrude Newton as he attempted to take the life of the former Chief Justice, who resides in Brewerville City, outside Monrovia. There are reports that the deceased was stabbed multiple times.

Francis said, “My father is an electrician. He has been working for the former Chief Justice since last year. She went once to purchase generator at Beever on UN Drive and during the process, she asked for a very good electrician it was at this time that my father was recommended to her and he has been working for her since last year,” he stated.

He further stated that during most of these times, Madam Scott didn’t call his father herself but the calls came to his father from a gentleman, who, too, resides in the home of the former Chief Justice, whenever there were electrical problems. He named this gentleman as “Godson.”

“I am told that whenever Godson would call my father, he would go there along with his boys who are working with him, including my little brother and my cousin.”

According to him, on the latest work, when Godson called, “My father didn’t go. He called my little brother and other guys and asked them to go there. My brother told me that usually, when they get to Madam Scott’s compound, they will have to call Godson to come for them outside the fence and escort them inside and he will stay with them until the work is completed and he will escort them outside the gate.”

Francis also stated that on that day, his brother told him that as they worked, the former Chief Justice made a stop by and after commending them, stated, ‘The woman who can usually cook for y’ll when y’ll come to work is not here today’. So, my brother said she gave them some money for them to go and find cook bowl to eat. He said all of them, including Godson, all came outside the fence to find food and after eating, they all went back inside together to complete the work, which was done by 4pm.”

He stated that his brother had informed him that when they were finished, the former Chief Justice wasn’t home to pay them so they were told to go to the owner of a nearby shop, who gave them L$2000 (US$12.50) for them to pay their way and can back the next day to get their pay.

“My brother told me all of them, including Godson, walked to the shop and when they got the money, they left the area, not before they had told Godson that they would come back the next day to see the oldma for their money,” Francis stated.

Asked if he knew whether Godson, too, was being investigated, Francis stated, “I don’t know. This is the main reason I have granted this interview. I am not saying anyone is innocent or guilty here. All I am asking is that those investigating must do all to question everyone who was in the house and neighbors. In fact, my brother told me that he vividly remembers that when they got to the shop, they met three ladies there. I think the shop owner needs to be invited, too. Even those ladies need to be asked as to whether they remember seeing these men at the shop on this day and around such time that my brother said they had left the premises of the former Chief Justice. I am only asking that the investigation be impartial.”

The Liberia National Police spokesman had stated that the former Chief Justice had told them (police) that some men were working for her earlier in the day of the tragic incident that reportedly happened between 10 and 11pm. Police Spokesman Moses Carter quoted her as saying that among the men, she had noticed one of them to be “strange” and it is this “strange man” that she suspects to be the attacker.
