Nimba County’s district#5 Representative, Samuel G. Kogar, has officially declared his intent for the impending Deputy Speaker election. Representative Kogar entered the Legislature in 2012 during former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf’s second term. He was member of the 53rd National Legislature, current member of 54th and won the 2023 October legislative and presidential elections as third-term Representative of his district.

The Nimba County district #5 lawmaker made the disclosure on Saturday, December 16, 2023 on his official Facebook page. Representative Kogar said his “dream to become Deputy Speaker was first developed in 2011 after being elected by my people to serve them at the Legislature”. At that time according to him, he was required to have sufficient understanding and experience on the job, which he said he has obtained over twelve (12) years of representation.

“We have gained immense knowledge on the job, proffering and co-sponsoring bills, working with our colleagues on critical national issues, advocating on behalf of our constituents of the seventy-three (73) electoral districts in Liberia through oversight, lawmaking, and proper representation since our inception,” Representative Kogar explained.

The House’s Chairman on Commerce and Industry and Co-Chair on National Security said he believes in the trust and confidence reposed in him by his colleagues over the years.

“Having consulted our Nimba Legislative Caucus, and other members of the 55th National Legislature, we now officially declare our intention for the Deputy Speaker’s position. We bring to the table vast experience at the House, integrity, patriotism, demonstrable knowledge of procedures, and admiration from our colleagues. we have demonstrated over the years to be a good team player, able to work with. We have shown an appetite for hard work, unremitting punctuality, and love for the country,” Representative Kogar enumerated.
