The governing Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) was recently brought to public ridicule when the party was labeled the most corrupt institution to ever exist in Liberia.

Opposition Unity Party said the regime set up by the CDC following its victory in 2018 is engaged into carrying out what it calls “broad day light corruption”, caring less for the suffering masses which bear the brunt of the unfortunate situation in the country

CDC’s outspoken critic and member of the Unity Party Executive Committee, Clarence Massaquoi, lamented that in less than six months CDC’s Standard Bearer, President George Manneh Weah, built for himself forty seven houses, while a quarter of the population roam the country homeless.

Representative Massaquoi made the disclosure during a welcoming ceremony for Unity Party’s Standard Bearer, Ambassador Joseph Nyuma Boakai, in electoral district #3, Montserrado County, at the weekend.

The Unity Party lawmaker also accused the Weah administration of compromising the security of the people by playing down the report of mysterious killings and other terroristic activities that occur on a daily basis.

The lawmaker however said that the situation can be averted through proper use of the franchise, which every Liberian above the age of eighteen is entitled to.

He said Liberians can rescue themselves by taking a u-turn in 2023 to the decision that brought the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) to power.

Amidst applause from the audience, Representative Massaquoi said his party is ready to produce a leadership, well-schooled and committed to the growth of the society.

He described the Unity Party Standard Bearer, Joseph Nyuma Boakai, as a man with the charisma and willingness to bring the country back to normalcy through progressive engagement.
