Human Rights Ambassador, Adama Dempster, has attended the Global Gathering of Frontline Human Rights Defenders in Dublin, Ireland, which was aimed at celebrating and standing in solidarity for the critical work done in the field of human rights worldwide. The Dublin Platform was held October 23—25, 2024.

The significant event convened advocates and leading figures in human rights to address pressing issues, foster global solidarity, justice, protection for defenders and fortify collaborative efforts in building networks and partnerships essential to defending human rights worldwide.

The gathering featured prominent speakers, including Volker Türk, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights; Mary Lawlor, UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights Defenders; Michael O’Flaherty, Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe; Olof Shoog European Union Representative on Human Rights, Alan Glasgow, Executive Director Frontline Defenders, African Human Rights actors and Seán Fleming, Ireland’s Minister of State in the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Their insights emphasized the importance of collective action in safeguarding the rights and voices of human rights defenders globally.

Ambassador Dempster expressed profound gratitude to human rights defenders worldwide, acknowledging their resilience, commitment, and the sacrifices they make in the pursuit of justice and human dignity. “This gathering is a powerful reminder of our shared responsibility to protect human rights and honor those on the frontlines,” Dempster remarked.

The Global Gathering of Solidarity serves as a critical platform for reinforcing partnerships, advocating for policies that support defenders, and reaffirming the collective resolve to create a world where human rights are universally respected and protected.
