Grand Gedeh County’s Senator, A. Marshall Dennis, says he is over-excited about the degree of maturity and wisdom contained in President George Manneh Weah’s State-of-the-Nation Address, delivered on Monday.

Senator Dennis said revelations made in the speech concerning progress in rebuilding the nation, as promised years back, was pleasing to most people, including diplomats and even some members of the opposition.

He underscored that Liberians were happy to learn about the construction of their major highways, which was important in improving the economy, as well as the emphasis on education and healthcare.

Senator Dennis indicated that these aspects of the speech were widely applauded by the poverty-stricken people of Liberia, who glued to their radio to listen attentively to their President as he took time to explain the government’s achievement within a very short period of time.

The Grand Gedeh County lawmaker said he was happy to learn from the President that significant amount of progress has been made to pave the Menikorma-Ganta-Tapitta and Zwedru-Harper highways, as well as other undertakings that are of importance to the stability of the country emerging from a protracted period of destruction and human sufferings as a result of war.

Senator Dennis also said the call for reconciliation, reunification and harmony among the people of Liberia contained in the speech should be taken seriously by all well-meaning Liberians, adding that disunity is the main cause of the nation’s underdevelopment.

The Senator emphasized that the country is blessed with abundant resources to develop, but pointed out that lack of reconciliation among its citizens is undermining every effort to make Liberia great.

Senator Marshall Dennis was quick to point accusing fingers at the President’s detractors for inflaming the situation through propaganda, falsehood and the spread of hate messages

He warned Liberians to be mindful of individual bend on portraying the President negatively for the sole purpose of undermining his good intentions for the country.

Senator Dennis, who cut short his visit to Grand Gedeh to return to Monrovia for the President’s address, said it is about time that Liberians stand by their leader in transforming the nation, rather than siding with people who have nothing to offer but to criticize every move made by George Weah’s administration to improve condition in the country.

A Marshall Dennis is a stalwart of the governing Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) and an advocate of the President especially in the southeastern part of the country, where he commands great respect and influence among the people.
