House Speaker, Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa, has departed Liberia with a legislative delegation to participate in a series of major programs in the United States from September 27 to October 12, 2024.

According to a release from the House Press Bureau, the delegation will engage in key events, including the 50th Anniversary of the Union of Liberian Associations in the Americas (ULAA), the Grand Kru County Development Association Convention, and the Association of Liberian Journalists in the Americas (ALJA) Annual Convention.

Upon arrival in the U.S. Thursday, September 26, Speaker Koffa will serve as the Special Guest Speaker at ULAA’s celebrations from September 27—29, which will feature an anniversary honoring program, a general assembly, and other events.

Speaker Koffa has been instrumental in advocating for the dual citizenship bill during the 54th National Legislature, and continues to champion causes vital to Liberians at home and abroad.

Following the ULAA events, Speaker Koffa will address his county’s Grand Kru County Development Association Convention in Philadelphia from October 4—6, focusing on sustainable development in one of Liberia’s most underdeveloped regions, where he represents electoral district #2 at the Legislature.

On October 12, the Speaker of the House of Representatives will mount the podium as the keynote speaker at the Association of Liberian Journalists in the Americas (ALJA) Annual Convention, where he will speak on the topic, “Addressing Liberia’s Fragility through War Crimes Accountability and Social and Economic Development”, reinforcing his commitment to war victims and justice.
