The Chairman and Officers of the National Muslim Council of Liberia;

All Muslims Residing in Liberia;

Fellow Liberians:

Asalamualaikum ya Muslim Jamat.

As you embark upon your month-long religious obligation of fasting, let me congratulate you on this noble undertaking.

This year’s month of Ramadan comes at a very challenging time when the entire world is being ravished by the scourge of the COVID-19 Pandemic, which is beginning to threaten the very existence of humanity.

While Liberian Muslims observe the Holy Month of Ramadan, I urge you to pray for an immediate end to this Pandemic in Liberia and in the entire world.

Meanwhile, I am particularly pleased to note that the National Muslim Council of Liberia ordered the closure of all mosques even prior to the announcement of the Ministry of Health that all Liberians should observe personal distance protocols and avoid large gatherings.

In this regard, I call upon all Liberian Muslims, and other adherents to the Islamic faith, to continue to meticulously observe all other COVID-19 protocols promulgated by the Government of Liberia for the protection of our People against this disease.

May the Almighty Allah give you the strength as you endeavor to fast holy this month of Ramadan.

Inshallah!

Ameen.
