Shooting at Cyber-Ed Christian School on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, by one of the students, Jovanus Oliver Turay, has left his classmate, Precious Ireland, dead.

    According to information, Turay sneaked a gun into the school and was showing off the gun during breakfast when he mistakenly shot and killed Precious.

   The Liberia National Police (LNP) says suspect Jovanus Oliver Turay, 16, and a person of interest, Matthew Gonkerwon, 17, were picked up by the Anti-Robbery Unit of the LNP on Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m. for questioning.

   According to the LNP’s preliminary probe, the School’s Principal, J. Emmett Chapin, revealed in his narration that he was urgently called at 7:45 a.m. by one of his colleagues, informing him about a shooting sound heard on the campus.

   Principal Chapin explained that eyewitnesses and students saw the three students, Turay, Ireland and Gonkerwon, seated in one of the classrooms, listening to music via an earpiece, and suddenly saw victim Precious Ireland lying unconscious after a gun sound.

   The parents of the main suspect, Josia Saah and Sylvanus Turay, who live in the USA, have been cooperating to bringing their legal representation to extract statements from the suspected juveniles.  

   Meanwhile, victim Ireland was later rushed to a hospital for medical attention, but was pronounced dead upon arrival by nurses on duty.
