The Union of Liberian Associations in the Americas (ULAA) has announced the successful conclusion of its historic and landmark visit to the Republic of Liberia, stating that it was a defining moment marking over 50 years of existence and service to Liberians in the diaspora and at home.

With a robust delegation of around 47 members, ULAA, under the leadership of President Mohammed Keita, Vice President Emmanuette Nagbe, and Secretary General Borbi Blopleh, visited Liberia from April 25 to April 27, 2025. The milestone visit culminated in the long-awaited groundbreaking of the ULAA Resource Center in White Plains Township, Montserrado County, a strategic and visionary investment designed to establish ULAA’s physical presence in Liberia and serve as a hub for diaspora-driven development, innovation, advocacy, and engagement.

ULAA extended its deepest gratitude to His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, President of the Republic of Liberia, for his warm reception of the delegation and his inspiring words of encouragement. “The President’s firm belief in the role of the diaspora in national development reaffirms the value of unity, partnership, and patriotism. ULAA commends President Boakai for welcoming Liberians back home to be part of rebuilding and shaping the country’s future,” the group said in a press release.

ULAA also acknowledged and thanked the ULAA delegation for taking the time off to make this groundbreaking event a huge success. “Indeed, you are true Patriots. Our guest speaker, Dr. Thomas Tweh, who left everything and traveled to support this wealthy cause. Our hats are off to you. Thank you,” the release noted.

Furthermore, ULAA extended profound gratitude to the people of Liberia for their hospitality, engagement, and support; Wilson Kanasuah, Commissioner of White Plains Township, the town chief, the tribal chief, and the people of White Plains for embracing the vision and gathering more than two hundred residents to the groundbreaking ceremony; Moses K. White, Commissioner of Louisiana Township, and the people of Louisiana for embracing this vision and opening their community to a legacy project; distinguished partners, generous supporters, and well-wishers, who contributed to making this groundbreaking journey a success; the Liberian Press Corp, especially LRTN and ELBC, for their thorough coverage, keen interest, and expansive publicity of all ULAA activities; Chairman, Rev. Dao Kamara and Mr. Stephen Binda for graciously hosting the ULAA meet-and-greet events in their residences, setting a warm and welcoming tone for the entire visit.

ULAA said from the April 25 meet-and-greet to the April 26 fundraising event at the Ministerial Complex and the April 27 groundbreaking, distribution of rice to more than 150 residence, and cookout, the Liberian people’s presence, enthusiasm, and participation reinforced ULAA’s mission: to bridge the gap between the diaspora and the homeland and to promote meaningful development through collective responsibility and engagement.

“As we return to the Americas, ULAA remains more energized and committed than ever to its mission of fighting for Liberians’ rights, dignity, and advancement at home and abroad. The journey to establish the resource center has only just begun, and the future holds far greater promise when we walk together,” the ULAA release observed.
