UMU Alumni Association Dedicates Solar Panel Lights
The leadership of the Alumni Association of the United Methodist University (UMU) has dedicated 11 solar panel lights at the university’s main campus, Ashmun Street, Monrovia.
Speaking during the dedication ceremony, held during the evening hours of Thursday, February 17, 2022 at the university, Dioh Podee, President of the UMU Alumni Association, said the donation is meant to buttress the administration’s effort in securing the compound of the university.
According to Podee, the solar panel lights will provide help to the security guards of the campus in protecting the properties of the university, and put the cost of the solar lights at US$1,500.
He told authorities of the university that a plan is underway by his leadership to provide modern chairs for the school, disclosing that his team has already agreed to sponsor two scholars from the university upon their graduation from the undergraduate program this semester.
The President of the UMU Alumni Association was accompanied by other executive members of his leadership.
In response, the President of the United Methodist University (UMU), Dr. Yar Donlah Gonway-Gono, praised the alumni leadership for a job well done. She said her leadership is open to working with anyone whose mind is set to bringing some level of development to the university.
The ceremony was well-attended by authorities of the university, as well as officials and members of the UMU Alumni Association.
