The United Methodist University (UMU) has announced a significant upgrade of its Ganta Campus, Nimba County. The process, according to the university authorities, is part of efforts to strengthen health science education and improve the quality of professional training offered at the institution.
The expansion planned places special emphasis on the university’s college of health science, particularly its nursing program—regarded as one of UMU’s strongest academic areas.
The decision to upgrade the Ganta Campus followed a successful accreditation and review process that confirmed the strength and relevance of the institution’s health training program.
Making the disclosure during a press conference last week, the Acting President of the United Methodist University (UMU), Cllr. Medina Wesseh, said her administration, walking with guidance from the Board of Trustees, has agreed to invest heavily in modernizing and expanding facilities at the campus to meet its growing academic demand.
“This will include the installation of 30KVA solar power system before the end of the year to ensure reliable electricity supply for teaching, training, and administrative activities,” Cllr. Wesseh disclosed.
In addition to energy improvement, Cllr. Wesseh maintained that UMU has a plan to upgrade its laboratories and technical teaching facilities to enhance training for nursing students and other health professionals.
The Acting President of the university noted that the institution is expanding its focus on agriculture education as part of efforts to align academic training with national development priority.
She indicated that the university is in the process of improving and expanding the agriculture college, which will form another key pillar of UMU’s academic transformation agenda.
Cllr. Wesseh disclosed that, as part of long-term expansion strategy, the United Methodist University intends to relocate and develop the agriculture college in Doman and undertake parallel improvement at its 72ND Boulevard Campus by creating more space to ease congestion.
