Unity Party Auxiliaries Call On Pres. Boakai For Recognition, Employment

Every farmer’s superlative quest after farming is to harvest and enjoy their labor. Other than that, it is a fruitless venture. Such is the case with several auxiliary group heads and members of the ruling Unity Party, who campaigned vigorously for President Joseph N. Boakai’s election and are yet to be recognized and nominated for employment; writes Ojuku Silver-tongue Kangar, Jr.

The leaders and members of auxiliaries in whose faces were the evidence of frustration and political marginalization, said they congratulate President Boakai for his victory over the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) administration and appreciate him for the on-going nomination of government officials and their subsequent confirmation by the Liberian Senate.

The Unity Partisans, speaking on an anonymous basis, said though the President is acting according to his Constitutional mandate, which qualifies him to appoint people that will work at the will and pleasure of his administration, he should have them on his mind.

Proverbially, they stated that the rope one held onto to survive when drowning should never be forgotten, referring to themselves as salvation ropes for President Boakai’s political victory.

“We sacrificed ourselves and used our sweat, energy, finances, T-shirts, contact, and campaigned under the heavy downpour of October 2023 rain for our Standard Bearer, Joseph N. Boakai, and he won with the hope to appreciate us with jobs so that we can enjoy our political labor and put bread on our tables as head of families,” the auxiliary heads of Unity Party expressed their frustration in the on-going nomination process by the President.

With the phrase “manage your expectation”, that is in circulation, and with the President’s appointment to ministerial positions nearly at its completion, the auxiliary heads and members appear to need God’s grace and favor to benefit from their political labor.

They said they recommended leadership positions with a concept note each to the Unity Party Chairman Luther Tarpeh to be considered immediately when the National Elections Commission announced President Boakai thewinner of the 2023 elections, but it seemed to be placed under the carpet, while those who were not deeply involved in campaign activities are toping nomination lists.

“We are calling on President Boakai to recognize us as he did during the campaign and he give us jobs,” they said in uniformity.

The Unity Party’s auxiliary marginalization is not only affecting those in Liberia, but those in the diaspora, especially the United States of America and Europe, according to one of the highly placed figures in one of the auxiliaries.

With the President’s campaign message that business will no longer be as usual and employment will be basedon competence, the leaders and members of the party’s auxiliary said they are qualified to work.

“Those who the President has appointed are not more qualified than us,” they said.

The photocopies of their documents displayed to the Hot Pepper revealed bachelor’s degree candidates, bachelor degree holders and master’s degree holders in varieddisciples.

“We can’t do anything opposite President Boakai’s wisdom of appointment, but let him do something for the over 100 auxiliary groups nationwide, especially the ones in Montserrado County and in the diaspora,” they said in an appealing tone to the President for appointment.

Pierced with campaign’s pain, they outlined how they gaited in polluted water and campaigned, gaited from house to house nationwide during the runoff campaign in various counties across the country and presented the President’s rescue vision to the electorate that secured his victory.

“It is our prayer that the President or his press secretary, upon reading this story, will recognize us again and give us jobs before his 100 days expired. We want to harvest our votes,” the aggrieved Unity Party Auxiliary Group heads said.
