The Bishop of the Episcopal Church in Liberia has warned religious leaders and politicians against being power drunk because it leads to what he called violation of human rights, corruption and abuse of power.

The Reverend Dr. James B. Sellee pointed out that the problems of Liberia over the years have been caused by the abuse of power because power breeds corruption, nepotism and neglect of the interest of the public.

Bishop Sellee gave the warning when he inducted the newly elected executive chapter members of the Trinity Cathedral Episcopal Church on Broad Street on Sunday.

Bishop Sellee’s sermon was taken from one of the chapters of the Book of Mark: “They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach. 22 The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law. 23 Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an impure spirit cried out, 24 “What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!” 25 “Be quiet!” said Jesus sternly. “Come out of him!” 26 The impure spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek. 27 The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching—and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him.” 28 News about him spread quickly over the whole region of Galilee.”

He said he wants public servants and religious leaders in the country to always serve the country and its citizens diligently—if their lives are to improve.

In remarks, a member of the newly installed executive chapter of the Trinity Cathedral Episcopal Church, Nkechi Joyce Arizor, assured the congregation of the growth and fund raising of the church,

According to her, there is a need of members of the Episcopal Church to always attend church service and help address the difficulties confronting the church.

Also speaking, Cromwell Beddell lauded members of the  Episcopal Church for electing him and others members who will stairs the affairs for the next  two years

He acknowledged challenges confronting the Episcopal Church, but vowed that the new leadership will address those problems adequately

Those inducted into office include Nkechi Joyce Arizor,  Cromwell E.N. Beddell , Eyvonme Harding, Marjon Kamara, Lawodo V,N. Thomas and Bro Charles Harris.
