In a bid to strengthen Liberia’s commitment to energy development and international cooperation, Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung arrived at Dulles International Airport in Virginia on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. His presence in the United States marks the beginning of his participation in the 10th Powering Africa Summit.

Upon his arrival, Vice President Koung was warmly welcomed by Isaac C Yeah Sr., Charge d’Affaires ad Interim at the Embassy of Liberia in Washington. The visit signifies an important step for Liberia in promoting energy accessibility and fostering partnerships with global leaders.

Ahead of the summit, the Vice President will engage in a consultative meeting with leaders of Liberian organizations based in the Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Maryland areas. This meeting, scheduled to strengthen ties with the diaspora, highlights the Vice President’s commitment to community-based dialogue and collaborative progress.

On Thursday, March 6, Vice President Koung attended key sessions of the Energy Summit, which featured a keynote address by Acting U.S. Secretary of Energy, Chris Wright. During the summit, the Vice President presented a paper on US-Africa bilateral partnerships in a session on African Leadership, emphasizing Liberia’s initiatives to secure foreign investments and support the nation’s transformation agenda.

The summit will conclude on Friday, March 7, when Vice President Koung is expected to hold several closed-door meetings with prominent U.S. officials. Among those he will engage with are Deputy Assistant Energy Secretary Josh Volz and Ambassador Troy Fitrell, Senior Bureau Official for African Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. These meetings aim to bolster Liberia’s positioning as a viable partner in international energy development.

Throughout his U.S. visit, Vice President Koung will underscore the Liberian government’s commitment to expanding energy access across the nation, as outlined in the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development. By advocating for foreign investments, he aims to drive national transformation and improve the lives of Liberians through enhanced energy solutions.

Following the summit, the Vice President will travel to Pennsylvania on Saturday, March 8, 2025, where he will engage with the Liberian community in a town hall meeting, further demonstrating his dedication to grassroots involvement and nation-building.
