Western Cluster Limited (WCL) has officially handed over the reconstructed Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Annex of Bomi Community College (BCC), located at the former UNMIL Compound, Tubmanburg, Bomi County, marking a significant milestone in skills development and community partnership.

The reconstruction project was undertaken by Western Cluster Limited, in line with a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed in July 2025. The agreement focuses on establishing a functional TVET institution aimed at equipping Liberian youth with practical, industry‑relevant skills. The formal handover ceremony was held on Monday, April 27, 2026, following a joint inspection of the facility by the project partners.

The event drew a high‑level gathering that included the Chief Executive Officer of Western Cluster Limited, Inayat Davangiri; Bomi County Superintendent, E. Dorley; Director of TVET at Bomi Community College, Yahmah Sumukou; members of the Bomi County Chief Council; representatives of Project Affected Communities; the Chief Executive Officer of Beacon Construction Company, James Kanagbou; traditional leaders; and other invited guests.

During the ceremony, Beacon Construction Company, through its CEO, formally handed over the completed reconstruction works to Western Cluster Limited. Kanagbou commended WCL for its confidence in local Liberian contractors, and its effective supervision of the project from inception to completion.

Subsequently, Western Cluster Limited, represented by its CEO, officially handed over the TVET Annex to the Bomi County authorities and Bomi Community College. Davangiri reaffirmed WCL’s commitment to community development, education, and sustainable partnerships.

Speaking on behalf of Bomi Community College, the Director of TVET, Yahmah Sumukou, expressed appreciation to Western Cluster Limited for transforming a previously dilapidated structure into a conducive learning environment. She emphasized that the TVET program is designed to provide young people with hands‑on, practical skills, and will play a critical role in meeting manpower needs for future industrial and mining activities.

Bomi County Superintendent, E. Dorley, praised Western Cluster Limited for its investment in educational infrastructure and highlighted the importance of public‑private partnerships in driving sustainable development across the county.

Representing the communities, Sam Gbelley Marshall, Co‑Chairperson of the Project Affected Communities, applauded the reconstruction works. In a similar vein, Monnemah Jah, Chairperson of the Bomi County Chief Council, lauded Western Cluster Limited for its positive contributions to the county, and called for continued peaceful engagement to promote investment and development.

The reconstructed TVET facility is expected to provide hands‑on training in technical trades, such as machining, electrical works, and fitting, aligned with industry standards and community workforce needs.

Western Cluster Limited disclosed that, during the reconstruction period the company invested US$35,000 under the TVET initiative to support rehabilitation works and related development activities.

The initiative, according to the company, underscores the shared commitment of Western Cluster Limited and Bomi Community College to youth empowerment, workforce readiness, and sustainable development in Bomi County.

Western Cluster Limited also extended appreciation to the leadership of Bomi Community College, the Bomi County authorities, and the people of Bomi County for their continued cooperation and support.
