The management of the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC) has changed, with immediate effect, the status of over three hundred (300) contractors to full-time employees.

Breaking the news of the change in status in a meeting at the Product Storage Terminal on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 on the Bushrod Island, Monrovia, Marie Urey Coleman, Managing Director of LPRC, said the decision was drawn from the government of Liberia’s policy of empowering its citizens by providing employment opportunities as a way of improving their living standard.

Those contractors, who were employed today, are people who have served the company for 5 to 20 years.

She urged all employees to take their jobs seriously and be more proactive.

The pronouncement was marked by jubilations and chanting of slogans, such as “Marie Go Marie Come Marie Get Moral Aaaay” in support of the management of LPRC and the Government of Liberia (GOL).

Meanwhile, the LPRC Workers Union has rained praises on MD Marie Coleman Urey for the unprecedented step toward fostering the Pillar Two of the “Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPD)”, which emphasizes on economy and job creation.

Speaking to the Hot Pepper after the news was broken, the Representative of Local #8 of the LPRC Workers Union, Ralph Raja Nimely, said the MD’s decision was the beginning of a new dawn at the government’s state-owned enterprise.

According to him, the 300 contractors, who are now full-time employees, as well as their families and friends, will have something to remember under the Coleman Urey leadership at the entity, and called on other heads of government agencies and state-owned enterprises to follow the leadership example of the LPRC boss, and not see government institutions as their family’s farm.
