Deputy Speaker Breaks Ground For “6th School” In Grand Kru County

Deputy Speaker, Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa, on Friday broke ground for the construction of two schools in Grand Kru County, which will total the number of schools that he has constructed to six (6).

   Located in Kayken Community, at the outskirt of Barclayville, the cost of the construction of the two schools is put at US$70,000. 

   The two elementary school buildings, known as the Thomas K.S. Seedee Elementary School, will comprise the main building and an annex. One building will span from 1st grade through 6th, while the other will be the pre-school or nursery division.

   The Kayken schools, if completed, will have the largest pre-school or nursery section in Grand Kru County.

   During the groundbreaking program, witnessed by students, youth, women, elders and array of the local administration, the Deputy Speaker said the construction of schools across district #2, Grand Kru County, is aimed at transforming children by helping them to improve their lives and health and increase their income opportunities.

   He further noted that it will help make citizens and residents of Grand Kru County to develop skills essential to daily living, as well as develop sound judgment and reasoning, and become more employable.

   Besides the on-going construction of the Thomas K.S. Seedee Elementary School, the Grand Kru County district #2 Representative has constructed and furnished the John Fannoh Karpeh School in Cheemgbetee, Dorboh Statutory District, and the George Tugbeh Worjloh School in Sasstown, Jroa Statutory District.

   Representative Koffa is currently constructing two schools, the Taybu Public School in Taybu (about 95% completed) and the Sally A. Toogbabou School in Wropluken (about 60 completed). Both are in Buah Statutory District.

   Additionally, he has contributed to the construction of dozens of schools in Grand Kru County, including the Barclayville Central High, the George Washington School, as well as schools in Big and Small Suehn, Bolloh, Buah, Jloh and other parts of the district.

   Since his arrival in the county, Deputy Speaker Koffa has received multiple endorsements from over 35 communities in Grand Kru County.
