United States Ambassador accredited near Monrovia, Michael McCarthy, has praised Liberia’s Postal Address system under the administration of Minister Cooper W. Kruah in the Coalition for Democracy Change (CDC)-led government.

The US Ambassador made the statement Tuesday, April 25, 2025 at the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications during the official lunching of the digital postal address. Ambassador McCarthy told the gathering that he has observed since he took assignment in Liberia that the country’s postal address is one of the accurate systems in the world. He emphasized that technology and development work together and, therefore, Liberians should work with the system in order to transform the country.

The Ambassador called on the Legislature to enact laws that will decentralize the governance system of the country. According to him, the world is now going digital and so Liberia cannot be left behind. He urged citizens to make use of digital systems to improve their lives. Ambassador McCarthy averred the country’s governance system needs to be decentralized for the smooth operation of the government. He toured the facilities at the ministry after his statement.

For his part, the Post Master General and Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Cooper W. Kruah, said immediate after the launch the ministry would ensure that the digital address system is placed on the Executive Mansion website as part of the awareness for the program. He encouraged all banking institutions, including Heath centers, to make use of the system. The system, according to him, can work in towns and villages even where there is no internet connectivity.

Minister kruah called on Liberians to visit the Ministry to obtain their digital address. The minister underscored that Snoocode is a well recognized private organization working with Liberia to transform the postal address system of the country. He applauded his deputies and assistants at the ministry for working tirelessly to have the project launched.

In 2009 the Universal Postal Union passed a resolution mandating members countries to initiate address systems with in their respective country. In fulfillment of this resolution, code named “Addressing the World”, an address for everyone, the Government of Liberia (GOL), through the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications launched phase one of the pilot project in 2013 addressing 15 thousand structures in the Congo Town area. You can download the snoocode on your phone or computer.
