The Bukonjadeh Group of Companies has called for calm at the Capitol Building among members of the House of Representatives.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of the Bukonjadeh Group of Companies, Elton Johns, members of the House of Representatives should exercise restraint in the process of democracy.

Johns made the assertion Tuesday in Monrovia when the battle to remove the Speaker of House of Representatives, Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa, from the speakership intensified on Capitol Hill.

He noted that some members of the House of Representatives are using invectives on social media, which is troubling for the young people to watch in the society.

According to him, members of the House of Representatives should understand that they represent the Liberian people, and their actions reflect on the image of the country, negatively or positively.

The Bukonjadeh boss underscored that Liberia has had four democratic elections since the end of the civil war, which were described as the highest form of democratic maturity on the African Continent.

He lamented that it is the rights of members of the House of Representatives to choose who should lead them, but it should be done peacefully rather than creating tension at Capitol Building.

Johns appealed to members of the House of Representatives to resolve their leadership crisis as soon as possible to ensure that legislations from the Executive branch of government can be reviewed.

He said Liberians and the entire world are looking forward to seeing Liberia remain peaceful, and members of the 55th House of Representatives have the responsibility to ensure that peace prevails in Liberia.

He asserted that there are several development initiatives that government needs to implement during this dry season, but if the House of Representatives continues in confusion it may undermine the progress of the development agenda.

Johns underscored the need for members of the House of Representatives to put the interest of the Liberian people and the country first, noting that the people are their employers.
