AML Liberia Donates US$10K To Support Liberia Marathon

ArcelorMittal Liberia has donated US$10,000 to support the Liberia Marathon. This cash donation comes as the Liberia Marathon Trust has set November 24 for the 2024 edition of the race.

AML stated that this contribution is its initial support to provide the marathon trust with a financial boost.

The Liberia Marathon 2024, marking the 5th edition of the event, aims to elevate the race by expanding and adding new, exciting features to drive progress while maintaining and institutionalizing proved success factors.

The Liberia Marathon has always been an inclusive event for all Liberians, with consistent support from AML over the years.

As the event approaches, the Liberia Marathon Trust has been seeking additional support to make this year’s competition even better than previous ones. AML stepped in over the weekend, offering financial assistance as part of its corporate social responsibility.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony of the US$10,000 check, AML’s Head of Sustainability and External Relations, Marcus Wleh, said the donation would bolster public confidence in the Marathon Trust.

“We believe in youth and sports development because it transcends boundaries. So, we are here today to make a donation to the Liberia Marathon 2024 event, slated for November 24. Our donation aims to bolster confidence in the Marathon Trust,” Wleh added.

In response, Chris D. Cooper, Chair of the Liberia Marathon Trust, expressed gratitude to AML for the financial support.

Cooper is confident that the up-coming competition will be bigger than previous editions, adding that over 2,000 participants, aged 16 and above, including wheelchair racers, will take part.
