Lions Club International has ended its third annual regional cabinet meeting in Monrovia, with a call for the people of Liberia to embrace service to humanity as a way of helping people living at the margin of society.

The Governor of District 403 A2, Elisabeth Ehounoud Attobra, who presided over the meetings said service to humanity is the bedrock of the global club and a special way by which the world must connect with and empower people living at the margin of society.

Attobra, an Ivorian, as Governor, heads Lions Club International region 403 A2, which covers Liberia, Ivory Coast, Togo and Sierra Leone.

According to her, Lions Club International is the world’s first organization for humanitarian service, and that in Liberia the various clubs have been doing tremendously well with their involvement in charity, and especially with the establishment of an ideal eye clinic at JFK Medical center.

“Lions of Liberia are dedicated to drafting good projects, and have prioritized a safe vision eye care center at JFK, which is worth US$300,000, providing numerous services to the people of Liberia,” Attobra stated.

According to her, she and her first and second governors chose Liberia for the governor’s cabinet meeting “to encourage citizens and new breed of leaders who are helping to expand service across the country”.

Governor Attobra urged the citizens of Liberia to join various Lions Clubs in the country. “We are all part of one global village, and when we come together we become stronger, with the ability to help more and affect more people positively,” she noted.

She thanked members of the Lions Club in Liberia for hosting the cabinet of governors meeting in Monrovia. “We are a family; we need to do more because when we are alone we go fast, but when we are together we go further.”

The Lions Club International-District 403 A2 3rd Reunion of Cabinet of the Governors was held at Cape Hotel, Mamba Point, Monrovia, on January 29—30, 2022.

According to the Governor, the meeting was key to abreast with activities in Liberia, access clubs’ health and review general performance.

Attohbra and team also visited Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, where the Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF) helped to set up another eye care center in September 2021.

“I went to Buchanan with a delegation to see how the eye center is doing and to also help establish another club in Buchanan, which we did successfully yesterday,” Attohbra added.

She expressed satisfaction over the opening of another eye clinic in Buchanan, and noted that it will help expand medical services to people in that part of the country.

Attobra, who is in the midterm of her mandate, had earlier on Friday, January 28, 2022 inducted seven “Lions” and 15 “Leos” into the lions club of Liberia, urging them to uphold the values of the institution and be of service to humanity.

She expressed joy over the induction of the new members into the Lions Club of Liberia. “As you are aware, we are in the business of service to people. So I am very happy for the new members and want to say that we need more people to join the Lions because the more people we have the better we can do,” she continued.
