ArcelorMittal Liberia has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Julia K. Bono, Superintendent of Grand Bassa County.

The company says Superintendent Bono was a respected leader whose vision and dedication made an indelible impact on her community and the nation.

In a statement, ArcelorMittal Liberia extended its heartfelt condolences to Superintendent Bono’s family, friends, and the people of Grand Bassa County, acknowledging the tremendous loss felt by those who admired her commitment to fostering progress and unity.

Grand Bassa, one of three counties where ArcelorMittal’s operations are heavily concentrated, held a special place in the company’s partnerships. Superintendent Bono played a pivotal role in strengthening those ties.

“We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Hon. Julia K. Bono, Superintendent of Grand Bassa County. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the superintendent’s family, the people of Grand Bassa, friends, and all who were touched by her leadership and dedication to the county and Liberia,” the statement read.

“Superintendent Bono was a steadfast advocate for a better Grand Bassa and Liberia, and her contributions will be remembered with gratitude” the statement added.

Superintendent Bono was widely respected for her unwavering commitment to improving the lives of her constituents and creating sustainable opportunities in Grand Bassa County.

Known for her collaborative approach and advocacy, she worked closely with local institutions, community leaders, and private sector partners to drive economic and social initiatives in the county.

Her leadership was instrumental in bridging relationships between the government, community, and corporate entities, including ArcelorMittal Liberia, which operates in Buchanan, the capital city of Grand Bassa. ArcelorMittal Liberia’s connection with Grand Bassa County has deepened over the years through various community investment programs, and Superintendent Bono was a key figure in fostering constructive dialogue between the company and local stakeholders.

Her openness and focus on mutual development objectives helped facilitate positive engagements that benefitted the community. During this time of mourning, ArcelorMittal Liberia affirmed its solidarity with the people of Grand Bassa and reiterated its commitment to continue the collaborative work championed by Superintendent Bono. Her passing leaves a void in the county, but her legacy of resilience and dedication will inspire on-going efforts to uplift the community she served so passionately.

“Rest in peace, Superintendent Bono. Your legacy will live on in the hearts of many,” the statement concluded. Superintendent Bono’s life and career will be celebrated in the coming days by family, friends, and all those who were inspired by her drive for a prosperous Grand Bassa.

Her legacy as a devoted public servant and a champion for development will remain a beacon of hope for her community.
