The Board of Directors of Liberia Media Initiative for Transparency and Accountability (LIMITA) has described President George M. Weah’s recent nomination of Cllr. Frank Musah Dean Jr. to the Bench of the Supreme Court as one of the best decisions in the interest of the country and its jurisprudence.

In a release issued Thursday, December 28, 2023, LIMITA said, “As we are in the phase of transition, we think that the learned counselor has all it takes to occupy such post, judging from his past and present performances. Cllr. Dean has over the past six years years demonstrated competence, capability and professionalism in discharging his duties as per his function as Minister of Justice of the Republic of Liberia. Our findings have proven that the Minister has always stood his grounds and has never wavered or succumbed to external influence in terms of ensuring that the right thing is done.”

LIMITA underscored that, during his tenure as Justice Minister and Attorney General of the Republic of Liberia, Cllr. Musah Dean Jr. was steadfast in making insightful impact, such as seeking extradition for alleged gun smugglers, being unbiased in the dispensation of justice and issuing no restriction on the enjoyment of Constitutional rights.

The group recalled that it was under the watch of Cllr. Frank Musa Dean Jr. that several mass protests and demonstrations were staged by major opposition blocs, without any major casualties, incident or accident, even though they did not seek permission from the Ministry of Justice. “He has also been credited for presiding over the Ministry of Justice during the conduct of the 2023 general and presidential elections, which was declared free, fair and transparent,” the group added.

“With these references, LIMITA and its Board of Directors can safely assure the public that Cllr. Frank Musah Dean Jr. will discharge his duties without fear, intimidation or external influence.

“Therefore, we urge the Liberian Senate, the body responsible to confirm the President’s nomination, to kindly do the needful by confirming this noble and humble man so that he continues to contribute to the growth and development of mama Liberia. We are of the strongest conviction that Cllr. Musah Dean Jr. is indeed the right choice to fill in that void,” LIMITA’s release, signed by its National Chairman, Benedict Padmore, stated.
