“The relationship between residents of Nimba and Grand Gedeh counties has taken a new roadmap that guarantees protection and love for one another,” Nimba County’s Representative, Samuel Brown, has disclosed.

Representative Brown said the new approach is accelerating the process of reconciliation and reunification between the two counties after almost two decades of tribal war.

The lawmaker said, for the first time, Nimba and Grand Gedeh are drawing closer through trade, intermarriage and other forms of social interaction, thereby buttressing the effort of government and the international community in maintaining peace between the two counties.

The Nimba lawmaker was quick to attribute the progress to the realization that both counties share common tradition, culture and history, evident by their long relationship.

Representative Sam Brown made the disclosure recently when legislative reporters paid him a courtesy call at his Capital Building office.

He indicated that residents of both counties are eager to restore close ties with one another and keep their region peaceful after the major feud that lasted for years.

The Nimba Representative disclosed that, as a result of the improvement in relationship, over 2,000 Grand Gedeans are currently residing in Nimba County, while similar number of Nimbains are in Grand Gedeh.

The Nimba County district #1 Representative used the occasion to congratulate his county’s legislative caucus for working together, and called on citizens of the county to buttress the effort.
